This competition is open to all residents of the UK, except for employees of the National Trust, Yorkshire and Clydesdale Banks PLC or their immediate families.
All information detailing how to enter this competition forms part of these terms and conditions. It is a condition of entry that all rules are accepted as final and that the competitor agrees to abide by these rules. The decision of the judges is final and no correspondence will be entered into. Submission of an entry will be taken to mean acceptance of these terms and conditions.
Online entries should be uploaded to www.aplantintime.co.uk. Entries should comprise of an image of a handmade flower by the entrant, accompanied by no more than 100 words describing what the entrant is doing to combat climate change or reduce their environmental impact. Image files should be a minimum of 1MB and a maximum of 5MB in size and uploaded as a compressed jpeg file. Any number of images may be submitted. Entrants must supply name and email address.
Postal entries should be sent to: A Plant in Time Competition, National Trust, Heelis, Swindon, Wiltshire SN2 2NA. Entries should comprise of an image of a handmade flower made by the Entrant or the flower itself, accompanied by no more than 100 words describing what the entrant is doing to combat climate change or reduce their environmental impact. The National Trust may choose to publish the entry and photograph to the A Plant in Time website at any time or not at all. The National Trust regrets that photographs or flowers sent by post cannot be returned. Please do not send the National Trust any additional items other than the entry itself.
All entries must be received by midnight on Sunday 31 October 2010. Late, incomplete or corrupt entries will not be accepted.
The competition is open to users of any age. All entrants under the age of 16 must obtain the consent of a parent or guardian prior to submitting any images. All entries submitted must be the work of the individual submitting them and must not have been published elsewhere or have won a prize in any other competition. It is the responsibility of each entrant to ensure that any images they submit have been taken with the consent of anyone who is identifiable in that image or the consent of their parent/guardian if they are under 16 and that they have been advised of the purpose of the submission and that their photograph may be published by the National Trust, and that they do not infringe the copyright of any third party or any laws. Entrants must warrant that the entries they are submitting are their own work and that they own the copyright for them.

The winning entries will be those judged to be the most visually appealing, interesting, or extraordinary examples of handmade flowers. An initial short-listing process will identify the entries that meet these criteria and/or have the highest numbers of public votes. First prize winners and two runners up will be chosen for each of two categories – Under 16 and 16+.
Winners will be notified by email by 30 November 2010. All reasonable endeavours will be made to contact the winners at this time. If a winner cannot be contacted or is not available, the judges reserve the right to select another winner from the eligible entries which were received before the closing date.

National Trust holiday cottage prize: Maximum prize value is £1,000. Prize value is redeemable against a single holiday only, and cannot be split into more than one holiday. No cash alternative or refund will be given. The holiday must be taken from 01/12/2010 to 30/11/2011 and is subject to availability. Prize must be taken from the 2010 National Trust Holiday Cottages brochure. Annual membership pass: A “Family” annual free admission pass consists of two cards, which allow free entry to the named holders and their children under the age of 18 at all National Trust pay-for-entry properties for a period of one year from issue date. Offer is only open to non-members of the National Trust; if the recipient is already a member then they can gift their pass to a friend or relative. Cards will be provided with a free copy of the National Trust map guide. No cash alternative is available.
The prizes as described are available on the date of publication. All prizes are non-transferable and there are no cash alternatives.
The winners may be required to take part in reasonable publicity accompanying or resulting from the draws and their name and county will be published on the National Trust website, in the members’ magazine and other National Trust publications. It may also be published by Clydesdale Bank and Yorkshire Bank PLC on their website, newsletter and other Clydesdale Bank and Yorkshire Banks PLC publications.
Events may occur that render the competition itself or the awarding of the prizes impossible due to reasons beyond the control of the promoter and accordingly the promoter may at its absolute discretion vary or amend the promotion and the entrant agrees that no liability shall attach to the promoter as a result thereof.
English law applies and the exclusive jurisdiction of the English Courts shall prevail.
