This year the National Trust and Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks' exciting touring exhibition, A Plant In Time, brings together creativity and a passion for plants while helping nurture environmental awareness – and we want you to be a part of it.
Our garden plants are amazing. Many tell the story of a garden’s creation, people's passions and the changing floral fashions through the centuries. Intrepid plant hunters brought exotic blooms from distant lands over the last 400 years, while other plants were bred by generations of dedicated gardeners. A Plant in Time is all about these fabulous plants, their fascinating history and our need to look after them for future generations.
Climate change Our gardens could look very different in the future if our climate continues to change.
We’ve already noticed changes to the growing season, new pests and diseases and more extremes of weather. A Plant in Time aims to remind us that we all have an impact – but that it’s never too late – we can all make a difference. Making small changes now will protect the plants we all love for future generations to enjoy. Try our simple steps to make a real difference.
Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks and the National Trust are proud to be working in partnership to preserve rare plants for the future. National Trust plant hunters are surveying our gardens, collecting seeds and propagating our most important plants. A Plant in Time marks the end of the first phase of this ambitious project to catalogue all our important plants - the largest survey of its kind ever undertaken in the UK. A Plant in Time is an exciting part of our Greener Gardens initiative partnered by Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks. We want everyone to turn their gardening fingers green, get involved and be inspired.
